
Most of my work subtly reflects some aspects of Asian culture and design, particularly in theme or style. You'll notice references to martial arts, Japanese anime and woodblock prints, but I can't quite tell you where they come from. They just come out.
Acrylics dry fast, forcing rapid decision making and disciplined control. They also produce solid, bright colors — perfect for paying homage to Katsushika Hokusai's woodblock prints.
"Ultimately, I want people to subconsciously emote when they look at my work, whether it be curiosity, pride or concern."
The irony of most of these caricatures is that they are based on real people, who in a sense, were (and still are) parodies of themselves. The rest are fictional characters and photo montages.
